Reading God’s Word:  Matthew 20:17-19; Psalm 45

Memorizing God’s Word: Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Meditating on God’s Word: Matthew 20:26b–27 (LSB)But whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.

Praying God’s Word: “Father, we are reminded today that Your economy works differently than ours. In our world, to win, you must look out for number one. You must promote yourself, and always try to “one-up” others. In your economy, it is not so. To win, one must lose. To live, one must die. To gain, one must give up. To be great, one must become humble. Help us to have the same attitude as Your Son, who gave up the glories of heaven to come and be one of us, die in our place, so that one day we can stand redeemed in your presence. Help us to be servants to all, as that is the only way we can be great in Your eyes. Amen.”
