Lorain County’s Counseling & Community Center
All of us have experienced varying degrees of isolation and trauma, and we all have burdens to bear, but you don't have to do it alone! At the Open Door Counseling & Community Center, we have two main goals in order to uplift our community:
1) Provide accessible mental health care through professional counseling
2) Make space for togetherness, fellowship, and mutual care through classes and support groups
We're here to spread the hope and light of Jesus Christ by loving our neighbors and meeting practical needs.

What to Expect on Your First Visit
The first appointment generally follows a specific flow:
You will complete or review forms regarding privacy (HIPAA), consent to treatment, and cancellation policies.
The counselor will ask questions about your background, including your family, work, health, and what symptoms you are experiencing.
You will discuss what you want to achieve through counseling. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
It is a two-way street. You are encouraged to ask the counselor about their experience, approach, and how they can help you.

Client Testimonial
Anne M.Come to The Center to receive help and healing for everywhere that you hurt. I highly recommend The Center because I have experienced what this specific team of people can do. I received help from them at a former agency and it transformed my life in many areas. And now this gifted team of people have come together to serve at The Center.
I would like to share about one area of healing that means so much to me. I was born a natural extrovert who loved to be around people. But after going through some hard things, I became overtaken by daily panic attacks and paralyzing anxiety. I became terrified to go out in public. My once vibrant and fun self, turned into a scared individual that couldn’t handle normal life. I was ruled by anxiety. But this team of people helped me tremendously, using both clinical skills and hearts of compassion to pour into my life.
Through their techniques and safe environment, I was set free from panic attacks and anxiety! And now, I have enjoyed this healing for 5+ years! I can fully enjoy going out in public. I even play piano in front of a crowd on a regular basis. This help and healing is available for you too! Come and receive!
