Meditating on God’s Word: Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

Praying God’s Word: “Lord Jesus, nobody follows you without denying themselves. It’s the essence of the gospel: die to yourself, just like Christ… and you will truly live, just like Christ. Forgive us for clinging to control, and teach us to cling to the cross! We surrender our thoughts and actions, dreams and desires, plans and ambitions, rights and expectations, comforts and comfort zones. All of it, Lord! We lay them down, deny ourselves, and follow you! First into death, then in glorious, abundant life. Amen.”
