Reading God’s Word: Acts 16:6-34; Psalm 107:33-43
Memorizing God’s Word: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Meditating on God’s Word: Acts 16:25-26 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.
Praying God’s Word “Lord, I can’t help but hear the words You spoke to Joshua in this story of Acts. Here’s Paul and Silas, viciously beaten, wrongfully imprisoned, with their hands and feet chained to a wall, and yet… strong and courageous. There was no fear in that prison cell because You were with them. There was no discouragement because they chased it away with their songs, a sound those prison walls had never heard before. And what did You do in response to their strong and courageous faith? A miracle in the jail cell, and a greater miracle in the jailer’s heart, him and his whole family. So where are You calling me to be strong and courageous? What miracle do You want to work in someone else’s life because of it? Help me to walk with that kind of faith today, Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, amen!”
