Reading God’s Word: Luke 2, Proverbs 14

Memorizing God’s Word: Luke 4:18-19, The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Meditating on God’s Word: Luke 2:10-11, But the angel of the Lord said to them, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, no matter how many times I hear the story of your birth, it is still a wonder to behold! You became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Two times there is reference that Mary treasured these things and pondered them in her heart (Luke 2:19, 51). That is a phrase that has captured my attention numerous times and once again today. I will reflect upon what that meant then and what it still means for me today. Amen.”
