Reading God’s Word: I Kings 14, Psalm 11
Memorizing God’s Word: Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Meditating on God’s Word: I Kings 14:9, You have done more evil than all who lived before you. You have made for yourself other gods, idols made of metal; you have provoked me to anger and thrust me behind your back.
Praying God’s Word: “Lord, Jeroboam’s rule described in I Kings could have been a blessing, but instead his rule became a path towards evil and idolatry. This may not have been how he began, but it is how he ended. How easy it is to be led astray by the world around us, others, and our own internal dialog. Jeroboam’s life could have been an example of strong leadership, but instead he went his own way. This is humbling, Lord. What have I missed along my life path? When did I leave you behind, to go my own way? It is not enough to begin; we also need to finish well. You are righteous and those who are upright will see your face (Psalm 11:7). Let that be me, Lord! Amen.”
