Reading God’s Word: Matthew 5:21-30; Psalm 10

Memorizing God’s Word: Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Meditating on God’s Word: Mathew 5:22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, this hits hard. Anger is a poison that has sunk its fangs into Christianity. We are known by so many in this nation as an arrogant and hateful people. Jesus, we call on your forgiveness for the evil names we have called the leaders you have placed over us. Forgive us for the careless words we have spoken over spouses and co-workers and children as we responded in anger. God forgive us for the racial slurs and homophobic hate speech. We repent for the verbal abuse heaped upon women and immigrants and those we do not understand. Spirit, place a coal upon our tongues and may we realize that words matter. May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in your sight. Amen.”
