Reading God’s Word: Joshua 9-10; Psalm 125

Memorizing God’s Word: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Meditating on God’s Word: Joshua 9:19-20 (LSB)Then all the leaders said to the whole congregation, “We have sworn to them by Yahweh, the God of Israel, so now we cannot touch them. This we will do to them, even let them live, so that wrath will not be upon us for the oath which we swore to them.”

Praying God’s Word: “Father, in our meditation today we read of the deceit of the Gibeonites who tricked Israel into a treaty. In spite of this, Israel honored their word and even protected Gibeon from those who wished to destroy them. May we be a people of our word as well. We live in a world where one’s word is not what it should be. Forgive us for those little acts of deceit in our own lives when we may go back on promises and help us to be a people that keep their word even when it hurts. Amen.”
