Reading God’s Word: Matthew 16-17; Psalm 138
Memorizing God’s Word: Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Meditating on God’s Word: Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
Praying God’s Word: “Lord Jesus, I DO want to be your disciple. That’s me you’re talking about in this verse. I want to follow you, to learn from you, to become more like you. So, I intentionally say no to those selfish, sinful desires that arise in my heart. I want to live a “not my will but yours be done” kind of life. I surrender to you, but not just this moment, I LIVE surrendered. I take up the cross, the instrument of death, and I carry it, putting to death my own desires and living for you. I am crucified with Christ and I no longer live for myself, I live for you. Amen.”
