Reading God’s Word: 1 Corinthians 8-9; Psalm 62

Memorizing God’s Word: 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Meditating on God’s Word: 1 Corinthians 9:25-26 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, why do we celebrate and admire those who go into strict training in order to win a prize that is temporary and ultimately insignificant but shrink from the idea of training to be more like Christ? Inspire us, ignite a passion within us to train with you, to learn from you, to give our very best that we may gradually become more and more like you. The pursuit of Christlikeness is worthy of our very best! Amen.”
