Reading God’s Word: Joshua 5:13-7:26; Psalm 123
Memorizing God’s Word: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Meditating on God’s Word: Joshua 7:11-12a (LSB) So Yahweh said to Joshua, “Rise up! Why is it that you have fallen on your face? Israel has sinned, and they have also trespassed against My covenant which I commanded them.”
Praying God’s Word: “Father, in our meditation today we find a vivid reminder of just how serious sin is. Israel had just come off of a great victory at Jericho, only to fall at Ai due to there being sin in the camp. Let us not forget just how serious sin is in our own lives. All too often we tolerate “just a little bit” thinking it is not that bad, but just a little sin in the camp of Israel resulted in a major defeat and the loss of many lives. Please help us to see the seriousness of sin and deal with it swiftly and thoroughly when it comes to our attention so that we may experience Your full blessing in our lives. Amen.”
