Reading God’s Word: Catch-up Day; Proverbs 20

Reviewing 1 Samuel: Overview Video (7:18)

Memorizing God’s Word: Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Meditating on God’s Word: Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, the answer to this question posed by the writer of this proverb is “no one.” No one can claim they are without sin. No one can claim they have kept their heart pure. In 1 John we read that the one who claims to be without sin deceives themselves and is a liar (1 John 1:8-10). He also says that if we confess our sin, you are faithful and just and will forgive our sin and purify us from all unrighteousness.  Thank you for your ready willingness to forgive us; thank you for your loving mercy.  May we be quick to confess our sin, quick to acknowledge where we have fallen short and equally quick to breathe in your forgiveness and purity! Amen.
