Reading God’s Word: Catch-up Day, Proverbs 12

Previewing Luke: Overview

Memorizing God’s Word: Luke 4:18-19, The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Meditating on God’s Word: Proverbs 12:25, An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

Praying God’s Word “Lord, in Philippians 4:6-7 we read, ‘Do not be anxious about anything . . .’ and yet, it seems as though many are anxious about everything. If we are going to read scripture, increase our knowledge and understand your truths, shouldn’t this be evident in our day-to-day lives? Can anxiety and trust really co-exist? The ‘peace of God that transcends all understanding’ is ours to embrace. Do we have arms wide open with a surrendered heart, or clenched fists riddled with anxiety? An anxious heart weighs us down, as well as those around us. May we be kind to ourselves today, and kind to those who may be anxious around us. Amen.”
