Reading God’s Word: Matthew 27:33-56; Psalm 29

Memorizing God’s Word: John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Meditating on God’s Word: Matthew 27:50-51a, “And when Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”

Praying God’s Word “Lord, as I consider these words I am impressed by the weight of this tragedy. The Son of God, Son of Man, came to die. And yet, I am amazed by this sign in the temple! This curtain—60-feet high, four inches thick—separated man from God. It kept us out of the holy place. No human person could have torn the curtain from the top. But as the sinless savior died, you signaled to all humanity that the sin that separated us from You had been dealt with once and for all. Jesus, thank you for giving up your life for us! Amen.”
