Reading God’s Word: Isaiah 18-20

Advent Reading: Luke 2:8-14

Memorizing God’s Word: Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,  they will walk and not be faint.

Meditating on God’s Word: Luke 2:8-9 (LSB)  In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

Praying God’s Word “Father, when the long-awaited Messiah was born, it was not to the wealthy, the mighty, and the influential that the first news of His arrival was given. Instead, it was to some of the lowliest people in that day engaging in one of the humblest occupations, shepherds on a hillside. Humanity elevates the powerful, You elevate the humble. Forgive us for seeing those around us in terms of their wealth, influence, and position in society, and instead help us to see everyone as you see them, as You are no respecter of persons. You humble the proud but exalt the lowly. Amen.”
