Reading God’s Word: Mark 14:53-72; Psalm 42
Memorizing God’s Word: Ephesians 3:17b-18 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,
Meditating on God’s Word: Psalm 42:3 My tears have been my food day and night,
while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Praying God’s Word: “Father God, Peter bears out this passage in his experience of denying Jesus 3 times. In the aftermath of realizing Jesus’ prophetic words had come to pass and Luke says Peter and Jesus locked eyes, the tears must have flowed for some time. Peter may have asked himself where you were God. Truth is, I am no different than Peter or any of the disciples. I tend toward self-protection and denial of your ways when things get tough. Today, I turn away from what comes natural and ask you for the boldness and courage of Jesus to remain faithful and persevere. For your glory, Father, Amen.”
