Reading God’s Word: Jeremiah 27-28; Psalm 21
Memorizing God’s Word: Jeremiah 29:11-12 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Meditating on God’s Word: Jeremiah 27:4–6 “Give them a message for their masters and say, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Tell this to your masters: 5 With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please. 6 Now I will give all your countries into the hands of my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.”
Praying God’s Word: “Lord, this is a surprising and hard passage to stomach: You telling Jeremiah to call the pagan king Nebuchadnezzar “my servant” and telling the people of Israel to serve him! Jeremiah really had to be clear that he was hearing from you. I pray that we will be so familiar with your voice that no matter what you say, we can recognize it is from you and boldly proclaim it as a message from you. In a world full of people claiming to hear from you and proclaiming things that are not from you, it is more essential than ever that we both hear from you clearly and proclaim what we’ve seen and heard from you with boldness. Help us hear your voice clearly Lord. Amen.”
