Reading God’s Word: Ezekiel 6-7; Psalm 49

Memorizing God’s Word: John 8:31-32, To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Meditating on God’s Word: Ezekiel 7:19-20, They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be an unclean thing. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them in the day of the Lord’s wrath. They will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it, for it has made them stumble into sin.

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, admittingly it is difficult to read predictions about so much death and destruction. However, in the midst of this, the phrase ‘stumbled into sin’ caught my attention. How exactly do we stumble into sin? Are we paying attention to potential temptations and pitfalls? If I am not focusing upon you in my everyday life, then what am I focusing on? How easily we can fall away, beginning with a stumble then another and another . . . until we fall. Increase our awareness, so we better understand our vulnerabilities. Above all else, help us guard our hearts for everything we do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23) Amen.”
