Year-End Giving Project: “A Home for Everyone”

Year-end giving has always been an essential part of sustaining the mission of Open Door, meeting internal needs, and ensuring that we can continue the work God has entrusted to us. But 10 years ago, we felt called to do more—to shift our focus outward and join what God is already doing beyond our walls.

Since 2014, our year-end giving projects have transformed lives around the globe. From providing beds for families in El Salvador, building orphanages, and lighting homes in the Dominican Republic to digging a clean water well in the Central African Republic and constructing a playground for a special needs school, each year we’ve seen God move powerfully through your generosity.

Last year, our goal was to build 15 homes for families in Burundi, Africa, and reduce our general fund deficit. Through your incredible generosity, we built 46 homes—most of them in the Batwa village of Mbasi—and eliminated the deficit!

In Mbasi, families who once lived in fragile huts made of sticks, mud, and banana leaves now have sturdy stone and cement homes with metal roofs, windows, and doors. These homes are more than shelter; they are a symbol of hope, safety, and God’s faithfulness.

This year, we feel called to complete what God began. Our 2024 Year-End Giving Project, A Home for Everyone, seeks to provide homes for the remaining 40 families in Mbasi. At just $1,500 per home, your gift will not only provide a secure place to live but also supply children with school uniforms and supplies, while empowering families through discipleship and job training with our local partner, Kickoff to Hope.

Let’s come together to finish this mission. With God’s guidance and your generosity, we can eliminate our deficit and ensure A Home for Everyone. Join us as we continue to be a church that shares God’s blessings and leads by example.
