Reading God’s Word: John 19:16-42; Psalm 92
Memorizing God’s Word: John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Meditating on God’s Word: John 19:15, “But they shouted, ‘Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!’ ‘Shall I crucify your king?’ Pilate asked. ‘We have no king but Caesar,’ the chief priests answered.”
Praying God’s Word: “Lord, You are the King! You are the One that we ought to adore and serve. You are the One that we ought to draw near! And yet, how often have I chased after other loves? How often have I served other masters? How often have I said to You with my actions, if not my words, “Take Him away!” How often have I demonstrated a rebel’s heart that says, “I have no king but Caesar?” And yet, You love me. You died for me, knowing the waywardness within me. Forgive me, Lord, for my treachery, and say to me, “Come in close,” that I might draw near to You again today. Amen.”
