Praying God’s Word: Lord, as we begin reading in this beautiful book, filled with mystery and prophecy, help us to not miss the purpose for which John wrote: to spur believers toward patient endurance in the trials ahead. John doesn’t give us clichés or false hopes for endurance. He gives us a brilliant vision of Jesus, and says, “Look to Him! He’s your hope! In the middle of the fallenness, the brokenness, the suffering, look at His power! His glory and wisdom! See Jesus!” May this vision of you, Lord Jesus, be all the encouragement we need to patiently endure to the end. Maranatha – come quickly, we pray. Amen.
