Praying God’s Word: “Lord, how’s that for an introduction? Paul had never been to Rome, never met most of the people that would read this letter, and instead of boasting about his importance or resume, he starts with this: Paul, a slave of Christ. It was the most accurate first impression he could give, because nothing else was more important. And no title could hold more esteem. Paul was not his own, He was Christ’s, and Christ had his complete and utter devotion. Is the same true of me? Is my identity, the core of who I am, before any title or calling, first and foremost, a slave of Christ Jesus?  If not, Holy Spirit, would you make it so today? In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
