Reading God’s Word: John 11; Psalm 11
Memorizing God’s Word: John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Meditating on God’s Word: John 11:25, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’ “
Praying God’s Word: “Lord, in this story we begin to see that you are not just a great teacher, but that you are the champion over death itself. You don’t have the secrets to eternal life; you are eternal life! When we look forward to resurrection, we don’t look forward to some abstract thing; we look forward to you. So even though we may not want to die, let us learn not to fear death, and let us be challenged like Martha to believe that for the one who trusts in you, death is not the king of all terrors, but is rather the end of all terrors and the commencement of a greater glory than we can imagine. Amen.”
