Reading God’s Word: Isaiah 2:6-4:1

Advent Reading: Isaiah 11:1-10

Memorizing God’s Word: Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Meditating on God’s Word: Isaiah 11:2, “The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—”

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, in the beginning we read that your Spirit hovered over the waters while the Earth was formless and void. And now we see that this same Spirit rests on the child we read about in Isaiah 9:6—the One who comes to save! And even more wonderful, this is the One who said that He would send us this same Spirit as a comfort and help in life. So, Father, would Your Spirit rest on me as well, giving me wisdom and understanding, giving me counsel and might, and teaching me to live with a deep reverence for You and Your Word! Amen.”
