Reading God’s Word: Matthew 27:27-31; Psalm 68:1-18
Memorizing God’s Word: Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Meditating on God’s Word: Matthew 27:28-29 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.
Praying God’s Word: “Lord, in these short verses from Matthew’s Gospel, I am overwhelmed once again at the shame and humiliation you went through for me. The physical pain, the emotional pain, the abuse heaped upon you. Thank you for enduring it all in my place. As Isaiah said, “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. The punishment that brought us peace was on him.” You took my sin upon yourself and I am forever grateful.” Amen.”
