Reading God’s Word: Isaiah 26-27

Advent Reading: Luke 2:33-40

Memorizing God’s Word: Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,  they will walk and not be faint.

Meditating on God’s Word: Luke 2:38 (LSB) And at that very moment she came up and began giving thanks to God, and continued to speak of Him to all those who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

Praying God’s Word: “Father, we are introduced to the third witness of the marvelous event of Jesus’ birth in our meditation today, Anna. Not only has the birth of the Messiah been confirmed by the shepherds and by Simeon, but now it is confirmed by Anna, a woman who has served in the temple for decades. No doubt, when Joseph and Mary went to the Temple with their parents when they were young, they would see Simeon and Anna and know the story of how Simeon was waiting for the Messiah and hear the stories of Anna’s faithful service for many years. And now, at Jesus’ presentation in the Temple, both Simeon and Anna confirm that Joseph and Mary’s young Son is the fulfillment of Your promise of a Messiah, the Savior of who will deliver His people from their sins. Amen.”
