What We Believe

About the Bible – We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture.

About who God is – We believe in one God who exists as The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became like us with flesh and blood to reveal Himself the world and make a way of salvation to a lost and dying world.

About who we are – We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About salvation – We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on a cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of our sin.  God freely offers salvation to everyone who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian life – We believe all Christians should love God, love people, and live surrendered to Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Bible and daily surrendering to the Holy Spirit, every believer should become more and more like Christ.

About the Church – We believe the purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making him known to the lost world.

Statement of Beliefs

We Believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God, and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We Believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)

We Believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and He is true God and true man. (Isaiah 7:14; John 1; Colossians 2:9)

We Believe that man was created in the image of God by His direct act and not from previously existing forms of life and that all men are descended from the historical Adam and Eve, first parents of the entire human race; that man sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and become sinners in thought, word, and deed. (Genesis 1-2; Romans 5:12)

We Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitute sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (Romans 3:21; Romans 8:1)

We Believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate. (Mark 16:19; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 4:14-16; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 2:1)

We Believe in “that blessed hope,” the imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 4:13ff; Titus 2:9,13; Revelation 20)

We Believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God; that they are thereafter indwelt by the Holy Spirit who makes possible a life of personal holiness and a walk of obedience to the will of God; that all who are truly born again are “kept by the power of God” and, therefore, are incapable of losing their salvation. (John 1:12; John 3:3; John 6:37-40; Romans 8:5-11; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 1 John 3:1)

We Believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost. (1 Corinthians 15:50-57; 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10)

We Believe that the local church is a body of believers organized for worship, work, and fellowship; that the two ordinances of the church are baptism (immersion) and the Lord’s Supper; that the local church is an independent and self-governing body responsible alone to Christ who is its Savior and Lord. (Luke 22:14-23; 1 Corinthians 11:17)
