Reading God’s Word: Judges 13-14; Psalm 143

Memorizing God’s Word: 2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Meditating on God’s Word: Judges 13:8 “Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.”

Praying God’s Word “Lord, I love Manoah’s example here.  He doesn’t dismiss his wife as crazy like the disciples did the women coming from the tomb.  He also doesn’t run to the place she saw the angel to look for evidence to decide if he should believe her.  No, he stops in that moment and prays to the LORD.  His prayer is humble and expectant.  He asks for God’s wisdom in order to learn from Him how to raise this promised son.  Father, shape my heart like this couple!  May I take you at your Word and when I don’t understand may my first reaction be to go after you in prayer and ask you to show me how!  Such humble submission is what you love and desire from us; thank you Lord, Amen.”
