Reading God’s Word: Mark 2:1-3:6; Psalm 150

Memorizing God’s Word: Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Meditating on God’s Word: Mark 2:16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

Praying God’s Word: Lord, these words should stop us in our tracks. You chose to sit down with the sinners. You chose to break bread with the broken. You chose to dine with the dirty. Jesus, you came to show us the Father and the message was and IS, there is room for the troublemakers at his table. Spirit, convict us to be more like Jesus. Forgive us for making little clubs that exclude problem people. Forgive us for not inviting the relatives that we don’t like or agree with, to dinner. Forgive us Jesus for churches and homes that don’t invite sinners to supper. Father, give us the courage to be more like Jesus. A man who made room for sinners, like us. Amen.
