Praying God’s Word “Lord, in a world of excuses let us be a people of commitment, perseverance, faithfulness and obedience. We are quick to call ourselves converts rather than followers. Forgive us Jesus. The men you called could have given you the same excuses we offer. Instead, they followed. Period. Forgive our lies. Forgive us for putting the idols of family and sports and friends and fun over the command to follow you. Forgive us for staying put or shrinking back in our faith. In Jesus name may we be those who leave everything that holds us back and faithfully follow you. Amen.”
