2024 Board Nominations
Over the last couple of months, our current Boards and a Nominating Committee (a selection of members from different campuses, ministry involvements, demographics and experiences) has been working hard behind the scenes to interview and evaluate all the originally nominated Board candidates. After many discussions and times of prayer, we are excited to share with you the three potential Board members who are all being recommend for approval by our current church members to fill the two open positions on the Church Stewardship Board and one position on the Church Life Board. Please read their bios below carefully and join us for their affirmation vote on Sunday, October 13 following both services. Duane Miller (Nominated for the Church Life Board)
Duane and Molly Miller met in youth group at the Church of the Open Door in 1969. They married in 1974 and have four daughters and twenty grandchildren. A graduate of Malone University and Denver Seminary, Duane served for 42 yrs. in various ministries that have included Youth For Christ, camp ministry, youth pastorate, and solo pastoring. He is an avid canoeist and loves the outdoors. After retirement, Duane and Molly returned to the area and rejoined Church of the Open Door in 2019. Duane has been active in the church leading the Households of Light class and mentoring.
Ken Harp (Nominated for the Church Stewardship Board)
Ken relocated to Northeast Ohio from Mississippi following college and currently resides in Elyria with his wife of 29 years, Sharon, and their three children, daughters Shu Shu and Jie Jie, and son Moshi. They also have an adult son and one granddaughter. He and his family have attended Church of the Open Door for 9 years and are currently active members. They had the opportunity to serve as a family at Kefale and Las Brisas in 2023. He has served in business leadership roles for over 25 years and is currently Chief Operating Officer of Beckett Thermal Solutions. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, golf, and exploring new destinations with his family.
Dave Gilmore (Nominated for the Church Stewardship Board)
Dave Gilmore is a Husband, Father, Man of Faith, Kappa Alpha Psi member, and seasoned Business Professional with over 20 years of experience in Entrepreneurship, Insurance, and Retirement Benefits. He is a successful entrepreneur, having founded multiple businesses including a consulting firm, security company, property management, nonprofit, restaurant, and renovation business. His expertise spans business development, HR, marketing, training, and customer service.
As founder of D.A. Gilmore Consulting, he helps businesses streamline operations and boost profits. He co-founded The Exclusive Protective Services and Blue Square Renovations, and also leads Community Action Development, a nonprofit focused on increasing economic value in communities. Dave is committed to helping others succeed, whether through business ownership, property management, or federal benefits education.
