Jesus is Coming
“Jesus’ Coming Changes Everything”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

What happens when Jesus comes back?

  1. Jesus’ first coming changes the way we grieve
    • Not ignorantly, but informed
    • Not with despair, but with hope
  2. Jesus’ first coming changes the way we believe
    • Jesus’ resurrection is the basis for our hope
    • Jesus’ word is the source of our knowledge
  3. Jesus’ second coming changes the way we hope
    • The King will be returning
      • Personally, visibly, universally, dramatically (not secretly)
    • The dead will be resurrected
      • Because of Jesus’ resurrection
      • Because of Jesus’ command
    • The living will be raptured
      • The Rapture, the Second Coming, the Parousia, the Day of Christ, and the Day of the Lord all describe the same event.
      • We will return with Jesus to be a part of the New Heavens and New Earth.
    • The result will be reunion
      • We will be with the Lord forever.
  4. Jesus’ second coming changes the way we live
    • Encouraged
    • Expectant

Core CHRISTlike Characteristic: Connected to God through the Word and Prayer/Loving God
