Reading God’s Word: John 13:1-17; Psalm 63

Memorizing God’s Word: John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Meditating on God’s Word: John 13:2-3, “The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;”

Praying God’s Word: “Lord God, what a contrast in this scene – the devil prompting Judas, evil on the move and yet Jesus is at peace knowing all things have been placed under his power by the Father.  We live in this same tension as the bride of Christ in this fallen world.  Bind us together Jesus so that in the unity of Your Spirit we can have the same boldness and freedom that Jesus had in seemingly the darkest moments of His life.  Tomorrow as we gather, may we live like Jesus, aware of the enemy’s movement behind the scenes, but confident in the Father’s mastery of all things. It’s because of this reality that we can be the slave of all and serve others in the church body and the world around us.  May it be so Jesus, Amen.”
