Reading God’s Word: John 5:1-30; Psalm 78:56-72
Memorizing God’s Word: John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Meditating on God’s Word: John 5:6b, ‘Do you want to get well?’ John 5:8, Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.’
Praying God’s Word: “Lord, it is a short phrase but pointed and convicting: ‘Do you want to get well?’ Broadening the meaning we could ask ourselves the same question: Do you want to keep making excuses? Do you want to have an angry spirit? Do you want to have broken relationships? Do you want to continue living life the way you are? If not, then ‘Get up!’ Do something about it! You love us and do not want us to perish emotionally, relationally and most importantly spiritually. When we get up, you will be there with an outstretched hand to strengthen and help (Isaiah 41:10). Amen.”
