Reading God’s Word: Genesis 37:2-38:30; Psalm 23
Memorizing God’s Word: Psalm 23:1-2 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
Meditating on God’s Word: Genesis 38:28-29 As she was giving birth, one of them put out his hand; so the midwife took a scarlet thread and tied it on his wrist and said, “This one came out first.” But when he drew back his hand, his brother came out, and she said, “So this is how you have broken out!” And he was named Perez.
Praying God’s Word: “God, You are perfect! When I read the story of Judah and Tamar, I struggle to understand why You would use the result of Judah’s sin to begin the lineage that leads to Jesus. But You do wonderful things despite our sin. This isolated event, shared in the middle of Joseph’s story, draws our attention to the details of your perfect planning. Not only this, but You use the birth of Perez to show how intentional you really are, having him coming out first! How much more are you intentional in our lives! Thank You God, amen.”
