Reading God’s Word: Luke 3:1- 4:13, Proverbs 15.1-29

Memorizing God’s Word: Luke 4:18-19, The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Meditating on God’s Word: Luke 4:1, Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil.

Praying God’s Word: “Lord, it is recorded three times that the devil uses this language to tempt and challenge, ‘If you . . .’ We can also be tempted, challenged, but also accused. ‘If you are a Christian then why do you ______?’ We need conviction to turn from our sin, but not condemnation (Romans 8:1-4). We can live according to the Spirit and not the sinful nature ~ you have set us free. Thank you, Lord! Amen.”
