Reading God’s Word: Matthew 14:13-21; Psalm 34:15-22
Memorizing God’s Word: 2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Meditating on God’s Word: Matthew 14:14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
Praying God’s Word: “Lord, being fully God yet fully human, you went through times of grief and loss like us. You understand the toll pain can have on not just our mental well-being but also the impact it has on us emotionally and physically. In fact, just prior to being surrounded by crowds of people seeking healing and restoration, you suffered the loss of a close friend and family member, John the Baptist. Oh Jesus, help me to be deeply caring and sympathetic towards others as you are. Grant me the ability to see beyond my own struggles and pain and open my eyes to those around me who are also hurting. Guide me to respond with compassion, kindness and a willingness to help however possible. May I surround others with the comfort I have received from you. Amen.”
