Thank you for your interest in serving on the Worship Arts teams!
We are looking for musicians, vocalists, and A/V techs with high energy, enthusiasm, and who have a passion for leading others in worship. We love seeing how God works through our Worship Teams each weekend and hope you can be a part of that.
Who should audition?
If you have a heart to lead others into meaningful worship, and you feel you are skilled with your voice or musical instrument, we would love to get to know you! Please read the expectations and requirements for participation on the worship team audition form, and fill out the questions as completely as possible.
Why do we have auditions?
We have a vision for continuously increasing our worship ministry here at Open Door. Auditions are a very practical tool for evaluating the skills and heart of people who feel called to serve on a worship team. Some auditions can be very intense and cause un-needed nervousness. Our goal is to create a “dread free” atmosphere throughout the audition process so you feel comfortable. At the same time, we value honesty, and we want to encourage the pursuit of skill in the music we present to the Lord.
When do we have auditions?
We hold auditions 3 times per year, however, if you’re just joining the church you can contact any of our worship leaders to set up a personal audition.
Worship Team FAQ’s
[toggle Title=”1. Who gets involved with the Worship Teams at Church of the Open Door?”] The people who are involved with the Worship Teams attend Open Door on a regular basis. They feel gifted and called by God to use their gifts to serve our church through their musical talents. They have a servant’s heart, are ready and willing to use their gifts to honor God and to share His love with others.[/toggle][toggle Title=”2. Will I be asked to serve every week?”] No. We try to be very conscious of your schedule and provide a good rotation that will allow you to both serve and be refreshed by participating with the congregation. You are required to attend weekly rehearsals only if you are scheduled for that Sunday.[/toggle][toggle Title=”3. Will I sing at all Sunday morning services?”]Yes. Whoever serves on a Sunday morning will most likely serve at both the 9:00am and 11:00am services. You may also be scheduled to serve at either the Elyria or Avon Lake Campus.[/toggle][toggle Title=”4. When are rehearsals?”] Rehearsal times vary depending on the week. They are typically held in each venue on Thursday nights at 6:30pm.[/toggle][toggle Title=”5. How long do rehearsals usually last?”]Rehearsals last approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours depending on what needs to be accomplished. We usually put together 5-9 songs each week, depending on your venue, so it takes some time to get everything just right.[/toggle][toggle Title=”6. If I audition and don’t make the team, is there still an opportunity for me to serve in music?”]Absolutely! The worship choir, which sings twice a month, is a non-auditioned group, and is always looking for new members that have a love and passion to sing and worship. This is an excellent place to develop in your skill while still doing what you love. Practices are Tuesdays @ 7PM. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. You may also be able to serve on the tech team. We’re always looking for help whether it’s running sound, lights, or our presentation system. Email email@example.com for more information.[/toggle]
