Worship Team Auditions

Thanks for your interest
 in worship team!

We are always looking for musicians, vocalists, and A/V techs with high energy, enthusiasm, and who have a passion for leading others in worship. We love seeing God work through our Worship Teams each weekend and hope you can be a part of that. Please complete and submit the form below to continue the process.

Who should audition?
If you have a heart to lead others in authentic worship, and you feel you are skilled with your voice or instrument, we would love to get to know you! Please read the expectations and requirements for participation on the worship team audition form, and fill out the questions as completely as possible.

Why do we have auditions?
Auditions are a practical tool for evaluating skill and hearing the heart of people who feel called to serve on a worship team. Some auditions can be very intense and cause unneeded nervousness. Our goal is to create a “dread-free” atmosphere throughout the audition process so you feel comfortable.  At the same time, we value honesty, and we want to encourage the pursuit of skill in the music we present to the Lord.

When do we have auditions?
Auditions are 1-on-1 and by request, so just fill out this form as the first step, and a worship leader will reach out to set up an audition time.

Worship Team FAQ’s

  1. Who gets involved with the Worship Teams at Church of the Open Door?
The people who are involved with the Worship Teams attend Open Door regularly. They feel gifted and called by God to use their gifts to serve our church through their musical talents. They have a servant’s heart, are ready and willing to use their gifts to honor God, and share His love with others.
  2. Will I be asked to serve every week?
No. You are required to attend weekly rehearsals only if you are scheduled for that Sunday. Some of our team prefer to serve as often as possible, but we try to be very conscious of your schedule and provide a good rotation that will allow you to serve and be refreshed by worshiping as part of the congregation.
  3. Will I sing at all Sunday morning services?
Yes. We ask everyone serving on a Sunday morning to serve at both the 9:00 and 11:00 am worship services.
  4. When are rehearsals?
Our usual rehearsal is typically held in each campus at 6:30 pm on Thursday nights but might vary, depending on the week.
  5. How long do rehearsals usually last?
Rehearsals last approximately 1 ½ hours; we rehearse all 5 songs for Sunday service. We use an online service called Planning Center, where we post all the music, which allows our teams to come prepared for rehearsal each week.
  6. What happens if I don’t make the team?
As a church and a worship ministry, one of our primary goals is to help you find your best fit for ministry, allowing you to serve. We believe it’s essential for any growing disciple of Christ to serve and use their unique gifting in His Kingdom. Serving from the platform on Sunday mornings is only a small part of ministry at Open Door and may not be for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t serve. We always work hard to find the best place for you to pour into the Church, using the gifts and passions that God has gifted to you, whether that’s in the worship choir, the tech team, or helping with other worship needs throughout the church like Student Ministry or Celebrate Recovery. More than wanting you to play or sing, we want to set you up to succeed for God’s glory!
